Should I Start Voting?

I'm just not that informed about the presidential election. When I get more informed maybe I will consider voting.

This has been an ongoing question, not only other people ask, I ask myself every now and again. Some of my colleague(s) at work try to get me to see why I should vote.

One of the guys sent me a link to a website that has a quiz you can take to see who I am more inline with when it comes to values.

I had no previous assumptions as to who I would vote for. After answering a few question, guess who it was? Barack Obama. With a slim 82% comparison to Senator Clinton’s 81%. The Mike Gravel guy?…I don’t even know who he is. Is that sad of me?

Anyway. Aaron and Matt gave me ten tons of reasons to vote along with the benefits it have. I listened and started to ponder if it’s something I should start getting more involved in. So I thought I’d watch a debate by the two presidential candidates. I watched the re-run of the Austin, TX as well as the Ohio debate. I have to admit, Obama seems to be on his P’s and Q’s about what he wants to get accomplished.

Will I vote still? I don’t think it will be anytime this year. Like I mentioned to Aaron and Matt, I’m just not that informed about the presidential election. When I get more informed maybe I will consider voting. I believe in being informed rather than placing a vote and hoping the blindness of my faith gets in with the majority of the votes.

Now you may be thinking that I don’t care about what goes on in our country, but that would be far from the truth. I rather direct my focus on things such as our “society.” That’s an entirely different beast and I don’t care to have it woken up. It’s just I feel the debates are polite organized bickering. Every one’s talking about health care. I know that it’s a great idea, but how many times can you say, “health care” in one night?

I know there are tons of people that have a great argument as to why I should vote. Give me what you got. I’d like to hear you opinions and thoughts on why I should vote. Remember the subject is on the reason to vote not on who I should vote for.

Tricia Walsh Smith

This has to be one of the most craziest women on the face of the earth. It’s so far out that I’m not even sure if it’s true. Take notice to her eyes as she talks. They are spread wide like a crack head. She mentioned her career. I wonder what it is that she claims as a career. Maybe the tarot cards. Anyhoo…enjoy Tricia Walsh Smith.

How Google Got its Colorful Logo

Google Color Full Logo

It has always been a question of mine. Who designed Google’s logo? Also I’ve thought to myself what type of font did he/she use. Finally the cat is out of the bag and Wired magazine had an interview with Ruth Kedar, the graphic designer who developed the now-famous logo. It’s always cool to see who did what.

Afro Ninja

If you hadn’t seen Afro Ninja before–it’s a must that you do. I’ve probably replayed this video 10 times and laughed harder every time I saw him trying to get up and continue with his nun chucks.

Listen to the people behind the cameras trying to tell him to lay there and not get up. He smashed his headed pretty hard on the floor. I know I’m wrong for it, but I’m still laughing at the Afro Ninja.

Go ahead and replay it one more time. He’s even inspired a wallpaper from a graphic designer that was in sabbatical for a while. Gabriele Magurno created the wallpaper.

Vintage Plastic Surgery

Vintage Plastic Surgery

Modern day plastic surgery is nothing new. This was thought of in the earlier days circa 1932. However, I don’t think that I would have been one of the first people to ever try the procedure either.

NOTE: New scientific device shapes flesh and cartilage of nose quickly, safely, painlessly–or your money refunded.

Back in those days I don’t think there was any procedure that didn’t cause pain.

Boobs & Dinks Early Detection Kits

Boobs and Dinks

Shannon Gerard created crocheted breasts and penises and packaged them together in a kit called BOOBS & DINKS Early Detection Kits. Head on over and purchase your kit as this is for a great cause. $5 from the sale of each BOOB or DINK is donated to Cottage Dreams, a cancer recovery initiative in Haliburton, Ontario.

We Humans are Dead

Pay attention to the lyrics. It gives a clear understanding what the robots are here to do. It reminds me of the movie iRobots, which I love to watch over and over. Personally I wouldn’t mind having a robot do some of my chores. Only thing that it might not be able to do is wash my dishes.

What would you name your robot?

Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley Spitting a Verse

Do you ever think back to the days when no one knew of an artist that was neither mainstream nor very popular, but you knew he/she was talented? That’s what I think of Cee-Lo.

He’s been doing this for a long time. I remember thinking, when he was with Goodie Mob laying a verse on the track “Soul Food,” this cat has a distinctive voice. Since then I’ve followed his music faithfully every since. It’s a shame that the majority of his brand new fans don’t know his previous work. Check this verse he spits on Wake Up Show.com. He flows so sweet.

Get hip to it. Gnarls Barkley

An awesome collection of Pelican Book Covers ranging from the 1930’s thru 1970’s. Graphically, I’d say it by far the most simplistic pleasures in book designs. I’m a bit biased when it comes to simple design.

Candid Photography

Candid Photography

Everyone knows what the definition of candid photography is right? An un-posed and unplanned photography of someone. I will be doing tons of this come the end of March. I’m headed back home to Texarkana, AR for my Big Momma’s 84th birthday party. She has this shindig every year, but I’ve never had the opportunity to attend. This year it will be a surprise to her that I will be showing up with her newest 8 month old great grand baby.

She’s been talking to my sister and mother, who lives in Texarkana, about if I’d be coming down this time. My sister played it off well. She told her that she didn’t know if I was or not and that she would have to ask. Good one Sis!

So I did a search on how to take good candid photography. I need good picks of my family. I current don’t have any good ones. Or at least any I could use as photography around my house. I miss them dearly. I hardly get the chance to go home much. Living in Lincoln, Nebraska is a bit far to just drive home over the weekend. And now that gas price are higher than the clouds…”enough said.”

My aunts that I haven’t seen in several years are going to be there. Plus they haven’t meet Prayse yet. It’s going to be a grand ole time. My family is loud and no one is shy to speak. We are the masters of having cross conversation. And, amazingly, nothing goes unheard. I miss them.

So, if there are some good tips that you know of, feel free to send me some links or even comment to let me know what I can do to make myself better at candid photography.

Beautiful Minds: Stephen Wiltshire

It is simply amazing what people can do. Stephen is autistic. His first words “pencil” and “paper” when he was 5 years old. Amazingly, when he was 11 he drew an unbelievably near perfect aerial view of London after one helicopter ride. He had only three days to complete the drawing.

Some people only use a select few fonts. I have to admit. I wouldn’t mind being able to use several fonts (more than needed) in one piece of work, but I know that’s not good for the overall design. So I will simply stay away from a bunch of fonts.

Marvin Gaye Sings National Anthem

The best ever national anthem was song by Marvin Gaye hands down. I know some of you may feel that I might not be 100% right. If you don’t think so please argue your point. Also send me the linkage or whatever to help drive your point that Marvin Gaye’s national anthem wasn’t the best. I will put this anthem up against any.

Watch how the people of the arena started acting as if they were in concert. My friend Eric showed me this video. He mentioned how was the players to play a ball game after a performance like that. It’s sad that he’s not with us. He’s the truth. I can only imagine what he would have produce musically if he had more time on the earth.
